A SUDDEN DEATH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Dee. 31. A soldier on leave, named Charles Mcßoberts, died suddenly at a boardinghouse in a supposed lit. He was a single inaß, 37 years of age. ACCIDENT AT ALTON*. A rath«r serious accident occurred on Sunday at Alton to a, voting man Mimed Edward McDonnell, who was assisting a neighbor in gathering in his hay crop. McDonnell was working with a hay sweep and was in the act of clearing it when the horses started forward, dragging him with the sw?ep for some distance bruising him terribly and breaking two of his ribs, one of the latter penetrating the lung. The unfortunate man was motored witi all speed to the Patea Hospital, v.iiete it was found that besides the injuries mentioned, he was suffering severpiy from shock.—Press.
