ARRIVAL OF LOCAL SOLDIERS.

Several local soldiers who returned to New Zealand hv the hospital ship which i cached Auckland 011 Friday last arrived jn New Plymouth by Monday night's maTl train. Notice had been received that, several cot cases were to arrive, and the motor ambulance was at the station in readiness to convey the invalids to the hospital. When the train reached New Plymouth, however, it was learned that tin* severe eases had not been permitted to travel, the excitement created in connection with the arrival in New Zealand and the subsequent receptions having made it inadvisable that the men should be moved further without Orst resting. They are therefore not expected to reach New Plymouth for a day or two. The men who did arrive '■•.' ere met by the deputy-mayor (Mr. W. A. Collis) and the deputy-chairman of the Patriotic Committee * (Mr. Chancy. There was only one case for the hospital, that of Private Low. Motor cars were in attendance and aftef brief greetings at the station the men and their relatives were conveyed to their homes by the Patriotic Committee. Following are the names of the arrivals: Second-Lieutenant R. Oliver, left with the 3th Reinforcements, lias seen two and a-half years' service was wounded in the left arm sit La Basseeville on 319t .Tuly last Private \Y\ G. Barr, left with the 22nd Reinforcements, sustained fracture of the right leg at La Basse Ville. He v.iil be an out-patient at the New Plymouth Hospital. Private D. W. Paton, left with the 22nd Reinforcements, has been invalided on account of sickness, and proceeds to Cambridge after seven days' leave. Private F. G. Low has beeitsinvalided on account of sickness and is an inpatient at the Hospital. Private T. Molloy.

Staff-Nurse E. J. Kidd, of t'ue hospital ship, also returned by Monday night's mail train.
