Constant meetings, however, fan the flame of their love, and he finds that the strength of his passion is such that he simply cannot continue, ami the work comes to a. standstill. Then the girl takes the decisive plunge and goes to live with him, defying the conventions. The misery and trouble this a.'tiou brings in its train are vividly shown, yet one cannot find it easy to blame her.
