Lieut. K. K. Park, of the Royal Flying Corps, son of Processor Park, of Otugo University, has been awarded t!ie Miiitary Cross and a- ha.r to the Military Cross, on both occasions for gallantry and devotion to duty in the field. The name of Second-Lieutenant C. Ti. Wilkinson has been removed from the "seriously ill" list to that 'of "no.'longer serious."

Among the list of those wounded on December 4 appears the name of Cornoral I). Roots, a member of the Patca \'ifle Club. He was a well-known shooter and a winner of the New Zealand rifle championship. Mr. E. Whittle has received Word that his brother, Private R. .T. Whittle, who left with the 4th Australian Reinforcements and served on the western frontwithout a break, has recently sustained the loss of his right eye. Private K. J. Whittle was a noted shot. ~

Lieut.-Colonel Millward, who was re-i eently awarded the DSD., enlisted in the Royal Sussex Regiment as a private at the beginning of the war, and rose by rapid stages to command a battalion of his own regiment. Mac' Lec.l (Mrs. V. R. MacLeod, Stratford, wife), D. Brew (Mrs. D. Brew, Eltham, mothpl'). In the hospital report, Private W. Parker (Tlawera) is reported as a severe case, and Privates V. K. Bryant and J. G. Hughes, both of New Plymouth, as not severe cases,

Lieut.-Colonel George Mitchell, well known in Invercargill aa dfficer commanding the Bth (Southland) Regiment, is doing valuable work in command of the New Zealand camp at Etaples (France), and it is pleasing to know that his work is appreciated. He was recently promoted to take charge of Sling Camp vice Brigadier-General Fulton, but the order was countermanded, as Licut.Colonel Mitchell could not he spared from France. An Invercargill officer mentions that. Lieut-Colonel Mitchell is very lama as the result of wounds, and will be permanently inconvenienced thereby.

Arthur Henderson, who recently resigned from the British Ministry of Labor, is said to have derived his character from what is popularly termed in England the "Nonconformist Conscience." He is a Wesleyan, and a practising one. He was "truly converted," aa the Weslevan ministers say, at the age of sixteen, 'lie became a Sunday school teacher. He becalm? a "class leader." He is to-day one of the "lay representatives'' of the British Wesleyan Conference. He has no+ failed for 37 years to attend that •New \ ear's Eve ceremony so dear to Wesleyan hearts, the "watch-night service."

Three old colonist? died within the last few days in the Auckland district. Mrs Mary Elizabeth White died on Sunday aged 88 years. She had lived in Auckland for 4n years. Mr. .Tames Marshall Lennox, who had been prominently associated with public matters in Auckland, died on Saturday at the age of 75 years. Deceased saw service in the Maori war. He was an enthusiastic member of the Auckland Chess Club, also of the Auckland Bowling Club, and was one of the founders of thcßemuera Bowling Club. He was on one occasion champion of champions. Mr. Henry R. Grover, storekeeper, of Knhiikohu, died last week at the age of 77 years. Deceased was one of the pioneers of the district, and had been a resident of the Dominion for over half a century.
