So far tlio holidays have passed very pleasantly. The' weather has not been too bad, and people have visile, the town in large numbers, Uushies* generally has been good, and in some instances has exceeded expectations. The crowds of well-dressed adults and children seen i:> the streets do not indicate any signs of e. hard-up state, so evidently it is still a ease of "everything in the garden is lovely/' Lovers of music—and who does not like good music?—will have a feast on .January 1, when the Town Rail should h-> well! filled with .a ..large and sympathetic audience. Large because the programme -merits it. and sympathetic because the euicviainment is in aid of the bard funds. Artists from Wange.nui are as-isling. whilst our popular songstress, .Mrs. (.'. McLaren, is also engaged. I have seen the programme, and can state that,

apart from the object, the entertainment is one worthy of the greatest support.
