ALLIED SUBJECTS.

LIABLE FOR SERVICE. NF.W WAR REGULATIONS ISSUED. Additional War Regulations gazetted on Saturday provide for the deportation of any Allied State of persons liable to compulsory military service in that State- and also gives power to military or naval authorities to .seize, whether 011 board ship or ashore, any document or other tiling which may be evidence of an offence committed .or about to be committed against the War Regulations, the Military Service Act, or the Army Act. The text of the regulations is as follows:—

"1. If a military or naval authority is satisfied that any person, not being a British subject, is a subject of any Stuff which is ""'ince with His Majesty, in the present war, « such person is liable to compulsory military service under the laws of that State, such military or 11 may, on the request of any Consular officer of that State, order the arrest of thr.t person, and his deportation either to the United Kingdom or to any territory belonging to the aforesaid State, and his de+nntion sendin" such deportation in *ucli manner and place as the military or iiaviil authority thinks fit and during his pleasure, until discharged by the Minister for Defence, and every such on'.-r shall have effect according to its tenor. "2. If a military or naval autlnrif.y has reason to suspect that, there is in any house, building, land, ship, or other premises any document or other thing : whatsoever wheh may be evidence of an offence committed or about to be com. mitted against any regulation made under tho War Regulations Act, 1014, or its amendments, or against the Military Service Aet, 1910, or the Army Act or which may be evidence of the whereabouts of any offender aeainst any such regulation or Act, the military or naval authority, or any officer or officer* authorised by him, may enter such house, building, laud, ship, or premises an.l search the same or any part thereof, and may seiz'e all documents or other things whatsoever found therein which may lie or may be supposed to be evidence as aforesaid, and all documents and other things so seized shall be retained until a military or naval authority or the Attorney-General authorises their return to the person entitled thereto. "3. (a) In this regulation 'invisible ink' meani; any fluid or other substance capable of".use as ink or a? a substitute for ink, and not 'immediately.' clearly, and permanently visible on being so' used; (by In this regulation 'writing' includes typewriting, printing, and any other method of producing a document; (c) It shall not be lawful for any person to use invisible ink in writing, or to procure possession of invisible ink for the purpose of such use by himself, «r any other person, or to sell or de'iver l:o any person invisible ink for the purpose of such use, or to manufacture invisible ink for the purpose of sueli use.

"4. These regulations shall he read together with and deemed part of the War Regulations of the 10th clay of November, 1014."
