THE PEACE CONFERENCE.
> RUSSIAN DEMANDS. TROTSKY'S CHARGES REBUTTED. Received Dee. 27, 2.45 a.m. London, Dec. 25. The Daily News' Petrograd correspondent says it is understood the Germans are replying to Russia's peace demands on Tuesday. The Russians demanded: (1) That the conquered territories must be evacuated as soon as possible. (2) The restoration of political independence to the conquered countries. (3) That the nationalities which had not political independence before the war shall decide the matter by referendum. (4) No indemnities. (5) Economic boycotts and commercial treaties restricting the freedom of the weaker nations are intolerable.
The British Ambassador published a statement rebutting Trotsky's abusive charges of interference in international Russian affairs, and points out there are three republics in Russia, and it is difficult to avoid the appearance of relations with more than one.
