THE LATE MR. JOHN SKINNER.
Thorp was a large and representative I nttenilr.nee at the funeral of the late ! Mr. John Skinner, which took J»taei» nl 'IV llonui cemetery on Saturday afternoon. There were preseat ata> amber* of the local branch of the Veterans' Association, of which deceased iyraa a number. The cortege left the residence of Mrs. Skinner, senr., PowMfaam Street. The committal service was iwrf by the Veil, Archdeacon Evans, antfrmi the conclusion the last Post was sounded by Mr. J. H. Walker, a, meafaer of the Veterans. Tim Patoierstoa Standard gives the following additional details of tli» accident by which Mr. Skinner lost hit life: It appears that Mr. Kenneth Weleter, Paliuerston North, awl Mr. John Bkiuner. of New Plymouth, were in a ear journeying from Hawora to Palroewton, and when approaching a curve ou Simpson '.* Ji'ill they met another ottr proceeding in the opposite direction. The fetter, it ia alleged, did not give the PflhnerstoTi car sufficient room to pass, aid in order to avoid a collision Mr. Weheter swerved his car sharply aside, witib the result that it went ower the- bant and turned a complete-somersault., The occupants were pinned underneath, where they lay for an hour before Mr. Webster'.; cries attracted the attention .of Mrs. H.
