DISTRICT NEWS.
CARDIFF. The local farmers are very busy at present, finishing their ploughing and sowing, before Christinas and haymaking overtakes them. < The factory is working to its fullest capacity, and may have a greater output this year than was expected, the reason being that, in spite of several past suppliers reducing their herds, the exceptionally good season has favored an increase in the milk yield. This year has been a record one for the Cardiff school proficiency candidates. At the recent examination at the Stratford school, three pupils out of the four from Cardiff school gained their proficiency certificates by a wide margin, while the fourth gained his competency certificate, a special examination an* other pupil also gained proficiency. The names of those gaining proficiency certificates are: Percy Crossby, Lena Brown, Leonard Hancock and Thomas Dobson, while Percy Goble gained competency, At the Stratford show, Thomas Dobson, a pupil of the Cardiff school's dairying class gained second place in the juvenile judging competition, of which the majority of the competitors were youths attending the secondary schools.
