A shower fell during the first race, but the weather was tine for the rest of the day. The track was a little dead after the late rains. TE AWAMUTU CUP.-Cvnic. (7.4) 1, Rebel 2, Gold Fran 3. All started. From a good start Sleepy Jack led, with Minister following. This order was maintained round the first stage. Going round the back, Rebel and Cynic crept up. In the straight Cynic took charge and won easily by three lengths, a neck separating second and third. Time, 2min. Osec. Munster was favorite OHAUPO HANDICAP.-Blue Cross (8.5) 1, Welshman 2, Caballero 3. Also started: Merry Dan, Miss Queen. The latter was left at the post. The order of running was maintained throughout. and Blue Cross won by three lengths Time. lmin. 45sec. PATERANCI WELTER. Pendoon (8.13) 1, Empire 2, Slipstitch 3. Also started: Glenopal, Spalperion. and Gladly. From a good start Glenopal led for a short distance. Empire took charge going round the back, Pendoon following. KLY'JNO HANDlCAP—Corregidor 1, MM o' Gowrie 2, All Talk 3.—A1.?0 started: Tatterley and Deposit. Tatterley again gave considerable trouble at the barrier and delayed the start.
