LAIR OF THE GOTHAS.
HOW A GERMAN SENTRY HELPED AN ENGLISH AIRMAN. In view of the Admiralty announcement of the bombing of the Gothas in their lair at St. Denis aerodrome, near Ghent, a story in the Yctit farisien is worth recalling. The tale, told by a Gepnan prisoner taken by tho British, is that an English aviator descendod gently near a German sentinel. The airman asked him in the purest German where the officer in command of the Gothas wag to be found, saying he had an urgent message for him. The sentry replied": '•The herr commandant of the Gothas lives where th«' Gothas are, but tho herr lieutenant knows that." "Yes, my lad," replied the aviator, "but in the fog I have missed ay way, and now I am lost," "As, yes, I know the same thing happened tho other day to Herr von Sehulte, my captain"—and the sentry, with the greatest deference, forthwith' gave directions how to get to the Gothas. The aviator had barely taken to flight again when the sentinel noticed to Us horror the British marking on the planes.
