NAVY LEAGUE SUPER-FILM. "IT IS FOR ENGLAND.'' Tli magnificent ton-reel photoplay "It Is For England," to be shown at Everybody's Theatre to-morrow and Wednesday nights, and at a special matinee on Wednesday afternoon at 3,o'clock, is being shown by the Navy Leagte, with the double object of affording the people of the Dominion an illuminating insight into the wonderful work which the British Navy is doing in this great war and of raising funds for Navy League objects. It is a story of unexampled variety and crowded interests, a gigantic drama dealing with big events and striking personalities, and the story is told as only a patriotic Britisher could tell it. The narrative around which the picture has been constructed ia claimed to be one that holds the attention and inspires, the kftiest feelings of pride in Britain and all that Britain-stands for. The picture was only made possible by the aid of Die Naval authorities and the House of Commons. To see "the elect of nations" at work is in itself a scene that will live long in the memory. . The hero of the story is a young Naval officer and the heroine the daughter of a wealthy shipping magnate. She discovers that her father's partner, a naturalised German, has betrayed Britain. . How his schemes are frustrated forms one of the most thrilling scenes in this sensational drama. The leading role is taken by the world's greatest Red Cross worker, the Baroness Gingold, who has received from the King of Serbia the highest decoration within his power to bestow.

Everybody's Theatre was packed to the doors on Saturday, when Carlyle Blackwell and June Elvidgc were seen taking the leading rqles in "The Crimson Dover Brandi Cameron, a minister, on account of his attendance on a regenerated show lady, Adriennc, is asked to resign from his churoh. He secures a position in the North woods spreading the Gospel in a community of lawless timbermen. Addrienne (becomes a settlement teacher, "Faro Kate," nursing a hatred against Cameron for bringing about the capture of her lover, a murderer, accuses him of being the father of her child. The men, believing their fighting minister to he no more than a four-flusher, set Are to his church, thinking he is inside. However, the only occupants of the burning building are Kate's baby and a halfwitted boy. Cameron rescues them both at the risk of his own life. Kate retracts her Vie, and th* minister becomes the idol of the place. His happiness is made complete when Adriennc joins him. The photography in the picture is remarkably good, some verv good winter scenes in the north of 'Canada/ being shown. Supporting this first-class film is the '-Topical Budget" and chapter C of '-The Iron Claw." To-night will be the final screening of this programme. AX EXTRA GOOD FILM AT THE EMPIRE, *THE CLODHOPPER.'? The most original drama seen upon the screen tjhis year is found in "The Clodhopper," the Triangle feature to be screened at the Empire for a threc-nHit season commencing to-night. Chafles Ray is the star, and his role is one that will make him a public favorite with every picture goer. He is supported by Margery Wilson, who. is the sweetheart to whom he says goodbye when ho goes oIT to the city, to seek his fortune. Charlie wandered off to the big city in his best Sunday suit, and went nosing round for work, eventually discovering a janitor s job. He went awkwardly in and landed in amongst the rehearsal of a musical comedy that was going Hat SomeTJody pushed him hard and he feli among twenty-four girls in a haystack. Then the director saw hi s opportunity and made Charlie dance. The dance christened "The Clodhop" became the rage of fashionable New York and the youth's fortune was made. The rest of the' story is highly dramatic. A run sets in on the father's bank and he is facing ruin when Charlie turns up with his newly got wealth. Everything ends >spp>ly, The sotting is something to be wondered at, particularly the scenes set among the roof garden entertainment places or_,New York, where the interiors are gorgeous in the extreme. There is a particularly strong supporting cast, and the chorus of beauties deserve special remark.
