Among the marry replies received in uns'.ver io the executive's resolution with reference to tli'j purchase of meat was the following letter from the Prime MinUe.-, who said:—-'With regard to the suggestion 1 that payment should be made on the 'hooks,' I would point out that, this matter has already been very carefully considered, and in view of the fact thai, the contract with the Imperial Government provides for the payment of the meat when it is placed f.o.b. and that this contract is to continue during the period of the war and for thr.ee months afterwards, no change in the present arrangements is contemplated. Mr. Jack added: With regard to tho question of the boning of beef, careful enquiries have been made into this matter, but the general opinion is that the proposal is not practicable as a general praet'ee.
