NAVAL ALLIED COUNCIL. TO CO-ORDINATE NAVAL WORK. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc, and Reuter. Received Dee. 10, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 15. The Admiralty announces that a naval Allied council has been created to watch and report to the respective Governments the general conduct of naval war, and to ensure a co-ordination of effort. It consists of the Ministers of Marine/'and the Chiefs of Naval Staffs. The report adds that America and Japan will be represented. The various admiralties will furnish the council with information necessary for its work. SUBMARINE FIRES ON PORTUGUESE TOWN. Received Dec. 10, 5.5 p.m. Lisbon, Dec. 15. An enemy submarine bombarded Funchal for twenty minutes, firing forty shells, causing casualties and destroying houses and a church.
