SIR JOSEPH WARD.
VISITS STEWART ISLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. Sir Joseph Ward received a warm welcome at Stewart Island to-day, this being his first visit since his return from England. All residents turned out to receive him. He gave a short address, giving a brief outline of what be had seen in France, juid incidentally mentioned that Stwcarc Island had done Its share by sending 45 men to the j'ront, which was thirteen per cent of tho total population of the island. Final victory was coining to (Jreat Britain and her allies. That was certain. Rev. I. K. Mcliityre, in moving a vote of thanks, referred to Sir Joseph Ward's action in being responsible f•>[• New Zealand giving a dreadnought to the Motherland. It was the action of a far-seeing statesman. He was one of the greatest forces in the affairs of the Dpminion,
