m . A London cablegram states that one New Zealander has been awarded the D.C.M. and three have received Military Medals. Mr. Albert Ward has received word that his second brother, Private.H. E. Ward, was killed in action in France on November 24. Mrs. Dale, of Rahotu, has received advice that her husband, Private W. Sclby Bale, who has been suffering from sheil shock is returning home early nevt month. Mr. Matthew Andrews, whose death was recorded on Wednesday, had a farm for a considerable number of years at the corner of Albert and Maude roads. He then retired and came into town, living in Gover street. Mr. Andrews was a prominent member of the Primitive Methodist Church. Deceased leaves a widow ,'nd one son and five daughters. Cable advice has been received to the effect that Lance-Corporal Harold Hine has died of wounds. Lance-Cor-poral Hine left New Zealand together with hih brother, Sergeant Herbert Hine, as members of the Rifle Brigade, and they were attached to a'Lewis Machinegun section. At the time Harold was wounded, the brothers were the only two remaining of the original section. LanceCorporal Hine'was a son of Mr. W. Hine, of Eltham, and was a brother of Mr. E. Hine, of New Plymouth, who, it will be remembered, left "with the main body, returning some 18 months or so ago after being severely wounded at Gallipoli.
