STRATFORD.
(From Our Own Correspondent). [All communications, letters, etc., left With Mr. 11. J. Hopkins, bookseller, will receive prompt attention.] A. AND I'. ASSOCIATION. Stratford, Dec. 7. A meeting of the executive eoniniitt.ee was held last evening, Mr. J. W. Boon presiding. Tiie president thanked all who had worked hard to secure the success of tin l recent show, and paid a special tribute to Mr. Campbell Jackson in connection with the cattle entries. With regard to the catering, he stated that after allowing £9O for expenses, and also complimentaries, the credit balance was £l3O. It had been a strenuous undertaking for the ladies, but they did not seem to mind, as some had already expressed'"their willingness to have another try next year. More kitchen accommodation was desirable. Holding the parade of stock an hour earlier had been much appreciated by the visitors. He referred in high terms to Mr. Stanley's work as secretary, especially for his enthusiasm in the dog section" Mr. Campbell Jackson said he believed the recent show had proved the best in the history of the association. They owed a lot to the ladies regarding the catering, which reflected the greatest credit on them. So well pleased were the judges at their treatment that thev did rot charge expenses. Thanks were' also due to the farmers for the manner in which they had backed up the asociation in entering stock. He thought, however, it wa 5 hardly fair that a few willing workers should have the care of the association all the year and then the toil ,of week. He mentioned that Mr. Harrison, in the horsa section, had battled hard for entries at Manawatu and Wanganui shows. In conclusion, he congratulated the president and the ladies on the successful results achieved.
Mr. R. Dingle also added his appreciation of the efforts of the ladies. They had worked hard—some over-worked. Perhaps they would undertake the same work next year, and if the association took control of the outside stalls for the sale of soft drinks, ice-creams, cigarettes, etc, they might add another £IOO to the credit balance. He thought they were shaping the best way to make the show the best in Taranald. PRESENTATION. Last evening a very pleasant little function took place in T. Smith's tearooms. where the members of the Scottish Society met Pipe-Major R. Mcßae to mark_ their appreciation and esteem of his eTi'ort-s in connection with patriotic work.
