Walker arranged a Garden Party at her residence, "Dunure,'' in aid of St. Mary's Debt Extinction I'untl. and as perfect summer weather pvevail-d, p, number of people were present. The junior band, under the supervision of Bandmaster Mcl.cod. rendered a selection of excellent music, while several musical items were given by Mesdames Wilkes, Webb, Miss Jlir.e, and Mr. Remud. The tennis and croquet lawns were occupied all the afternoon, the latter being under the able management of Mrs. D. K. Morrison and Misses Norman (•2). Afternoon tea and ices were served in a special marquee by a number of daintily dressed voung maidens. Mrs. Wall ;er received her guests in a smart navy voile costume, doftly trimmed with Oriental embroideries, black tagol hat trimmed with shaded roses. Amongst those present were: Bishop and Mrs Averill, the latter wearing a prettv pale grey ebarmuese, black hat with Lancer plumes;' Ven. Afternoon Tea. —After the annual of the New Plymouth Technical College. whieh took plaee in the Good Templar Tlall earlv'last Thursday afternoon, the guests adjourned to the College itself where they inspected the work of the year, whieli was deftly arranged in the different elass rooms. In a spacious marquee whieh was erectcA in tlie ?ehonl grounds, afternoon tea was served by a bevy of school girls prettily frocked in white muslins Amongst those present were: The Principal (Mr. A. Gray) and Mrs. Gray, P.ev. Blundell slid Mrs Bhindell, Rev. Sinclair and Mrs. Sinclair, Captain Allen, Mr. and Mrs. S. Smith., Mr. and Airs. P. White, Mr. A. 0. Sturroek, Mesdames Or Brown, brooking. Duff, Kirkpatrick, Thomson, Fraser, Watkins, Skelton, and Misses Eccles, Brown, Eov. Tithridge, Baskenville, Taylor, Eise, Starkey, Watkins. Afternoon Tea.—Last Thursday, the Mayoress, Mrs. C. H. Burgess,.also president of the Patriotic Committee, gave an afternoon tea at her charming residence, to the Patriotic Committee and all outside workers who 'have untiringly assisted her during the year. The charmingly laid out garden looked at its best and was much admired, especially the rose pergolas, and its stone walls draped in climbing roses, with its falling cascades of the vivid pink "Dorothy Perkins" gave a finishing touch to this floral bower. Excellent music was rendered by Mrs. Wood's orchestra, interpersed with delirious afternoon tea and strawberrv ices. During the afternoon Mrs."'Burgess in a charming little speech; made a presentation to Mesdames G. Neal, Eberlet, and Misses Pardy and Sole, as a slight token of her keen appreciation of the invaluable work the}' had done in connection with patriotic purposes, during the past year. Mrs. Burgess received her guests in a pretty costume of saxc blue crepe de chine deftly finished with cream silk lace. Amongst those present were: Mrs. R. Jury, Sumner, Baker, Foote, Johns. G. Neal, Sole, Melsaac, Booker, Young, Austin, Ewing, Fielder, McAllum, Hammond, hartley, Watsoii, W. Ambury, Rundle, Fargie, Salway, Jas. Wilson, Eberlet, Beale, F. Afternoon Tea—The associates of the G.F.S. entertained the members at an afternoon tea, held in Mrs. M'Killar'a jiarden Jsust Thursday afternoon,' and quite a pleasant time was spent The competition .prizes were won by Misses Aldridgc and Newsham, as well as some exciting games of golf-croquet being indulged in. Curtis, Pelham, StepliensonSmith, Harrison, Aldridge, Evans, STcwsham, Putt. Social Functions.—To celebrate the occasion of her "silver wedding" Mrs. T). R. Morrison gave two vr-rv en joyable social functions last Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, the first taking the form of an afternoon tea, to which were invited

The chief attraction on the afternoon tea table was a gorgeous wedding cake, made and decorated by the hostess herself. On Thursday Mrs. Morrison entertained her guests at a croquet party, which resulted in Mrs. Hazlier winning the first prize, and Mrs. Ilutchens second.
