EFFICIENCY BOARD.
MEETING OP TRUSTEES. A meeting of the New Plymouth trustees of the Efficiency Board was held yesterday in the new offices placed at their disposal by the Taranaki County Council. There wore present: Messrs T. Furlong (chairman), 13. Whittle and F. J. Hill (secretary). Considerable correspondence was read from the commissioner in Wellington, dealing with matters that had been referred to him. The secretary reported that a reservist who had been called up, had placed his stock in his hands for disposal, and that the same had been sold at a satisfactory figure, the reservist expressing himself as satisfied with the price obtained. Another reservist, who had been called up, asked the board to manage his property, and to act as trustees during his absence at the front. This the board undertook to do, .and a deed of trust will be executed, a power <"of attorney being given. One lady approached the board for financial assistance, owing to her son being at the front. Three reservists also applied for assistance. The board made recommendations in all cases. A farmer waited on the board with a request to assist him in securing labor for his farm. A business man asked the board to use its assistance in connection with the affairs of his son, who was in camp, whilst a lady also asked the board's help in securing some concessions in the case of her husband, now in catop. A vote of thanks was passed to the Taranaki County Council for placing an office at the trustees' disposal, and to the Borough Council for supplying furniture for the same.
