WAITARA.
From Our Own Correspondent, Waitara Nov. 27. At a meeting of the committee of the Municipal Band, held on Monday night, the resignation or the bandmaster, Mr. r. Hughes, was' received and accepted. A sub-committee was appointed to draft a letter of thanks to Mr. Hughes. It wa« resolved to ask 'Mr. \V. T*). Skelton lo take temporary charge of the hand until after the holidays, in the meantime applications are to be called foT the position. Like most, other people, after a few days of fine weather we are crying out for a downpour of rain to freshen up the paddocks and gardens. A week or so ago we were praying for some of the weather •is it is, but now that it has come we me not satisfied. 'Twas ever thus! Routine work only was done at the monthly meeting of the Waitara branch of the Patriotic League on Monday evening. • Wool is coming into the sheds i r sry fast now. The recent spell of dry weather has given sheep men the chance to shear, and they are taking every advantage of it. Factories in the district are feeling the pinch of want of space in the freezing works for cheqsc. An early clearance of that now in store is being devoutly prayed for.
