A CASE OF CRUELTY.
To the Editor. Sir,—Could the publication of tli&H facts prevent some possible cruelties to other pets: Being thrown from a verandah with such force, a lamb had the hind legs twisted completely from the second joints,, the hoife of one broken, and with the hind quarters dragginsr, it pulled itself abo-n bv'the use of its front legs. That lamb was loft in that state for something like two weeks or more, then being killed perhaps because of a friendly warning a day or so previous, more probably on account of the wci, ther being favorable for killing. It was cleaned and hung, which could only mean it was to be used as a table delicacy. In mid-Africa the savages are said to cut their roasts off a tethered beast. This surely makes that statement a shuddering reality.—l am, etc., HUMAN'ITY,
