ENTERTAINMENTS.

A REMARKABLE PICTURE AT THE EMPIRE. '•'GOD'S MAX—AND THE WOMAN." The large audience at the Empire Theatre last night greatly oil joyed the trenchant jFrohman play. "God's Man — and the Woman." The drama mercilessly exposes the moral madness iof a great- city's feverish pursuit of wealth and happiness at any cost. The opiru habit, gambling, avarice, immorality, and other evils are vigorously assailed; and the contrast between the country, which God made, and the city, made l.y man—or by Beelzebub?—is very powerfully portrayed. The greater part of the action of the play takes place in Now York, which is described in the following bitterly incisive lines: —' Vulgar of manner—overfed, Overdressed and underbred. Heartless, Godless, hell's deligM. Rude by day. and lewd by night. Squirming horde in Mammon's mesh, A wilderness of human flesh; Crazed by avarice, lust, and rum,

New York, thy name's delirum. Mr. H. B. Warner is the hero, and he both looks and acts the part of the life. The cast, which is a strong one, fully equal to the great emotional demands of the powerful and wonderfully well worked out plot, includes a number of beautiful, charming, and well-dressed girls; and the play is superbly staged and mounted. An unusually thrilling film was the verdict of the great audiences on Saturday. A most interesting "Gaumont Graphic" record of current events, and a very amusing cartooncomedy, "A Mutt Company Promoters," round off an excellent bill-of-fare. "God's Man" will be screened again to-night and for the last time to-morrow.

"MIXED BLOOD" AT EVERYBODY'S. The principle picture on the new programme at Everybody's to-night is a Red Feather feature entitled ,"Mixeß Blood," a tale of strenuous life and adventure on the Mexico-Texas border. The wild life of this region gives plenty of opportunities for thrilling romantic stories from real life and the present picture is a. well constructed borderdrama that supplies a full share of excitement. There are several good gupporting films of entertaining subjects. COMING THURSDAY. On Thursday and Friday the famous Fox artiste Theda Bara will be featured in the big six-reel special, "Her Double Life" and on the same programme William Desmond and Clara Williams will star in a Triangle feature "The Paws of the Bear."
