WHEY BUTTER.
MANUFACTURE AND BRANDING. Regulations relating to the manufacture and branding of whey butter are issued in this week's Gazette. For the purpose of supplying to the Minister such statistics and 'information relating to such dairy as the Minister may request, every owner of a dairy is required to keep nn accurate record of the number of pounds of—(a) milk-fat separated or recovered from whey; (b) milk-fat purchased in the form of whey croani; (c) whey butter manufactured from such milk-fat separated or recovered from whey; and (d.l milk-fat separated from milk, if any, which may have been added to prepare such whey but- *"![ any owner or a dairy mixes cream or milk-fat recovered from wlioy milk, for the purpose of manufacturing butter therewith, the resulting product shall be branded "whey butler."
All packages containing such butter shall be branded "whey butter" in the manner herein provided'—(a.l in the cas;: of whey butter pneked in bulk, by having the aforesaid words clearly and indelibly impressed on the outside of the package; and (b) in the ease of wlu>y bitter put into pats or prints, by having the aforesaid words printed on a white around in black letters, of a size of not less than one-half of an inch in length.
Provided that in each ease the brand to be used shall first be approved by the Department of Agriculture. Every person who commits any breach of these regulations is liable to a fine not exceeding .CSO.
