DISTRICT NEWS.
CARDIFF. (From Our Own Correspondent). Last week the Cardiff road presented an unusual scene, owing to the prospective suppliers of the new cheese factory at Waingongoro Road having banded together to transport the material for its erection. The local factory is at present working to its fullest capacity. Owing to the difficulty of exporting' the produce, the directors are making arrangements to build a larger store-room. The approaching Stratford Show is' an event eagerly nwaited by the local population. Cardiff has always been well represented at this gathering, both by its people and its entries in the show ring; and this year its reputation will be kept up although several of its prominent competitors at former shows have, owing to labor conditions, curtailed their usual entries.
Mr,, G. W. Marcliant has almost recovered from the effects of his serious accident last month, and is once again in a position to give his capable assistance to the affairs of the district. Another resident of the district, Mr. J. Richards, has been forced to lay up in the height of the busy season, owing to the recurrence of an old complaint. Several cases of whooping cough have occurred in the district of late, but in the matter of epidemics the district lias been singularly free. A new woodshed has been erected at the school, and the effects of the "working bee" are beginning to show fruit in the trim appearance of some of the hedges and fe.nces. With a small amount of energy the school grounds could be converted into a beauty spot.similar to many other country schools in Taranaki.
