Petone., charged with permitting shouting, was fined £lO. F. G. Warring, iironsce of the same hotel, was fined £25. STORMS IX POVERTY BAY. Gisbome, Last 'Night. There was a phenomenal rainstorm on Wednesday night and to-day, accompanied by a boisterous southerly gale. Most of the business premises in the main street report damage by rain entering their shops, and a -rough estimate nlaees the damage at £IOOO. The Ara-hm-a arrived from Napier this morning, but could not. be worked on account of (he heavv sea, and after standing oil' and on all day she was ordered to proceed to Auckland, overcavrying mails, passengers, and cargo. The Monowai, from Auckland, was duo this afternoon, I'H: is not expected till th'e morning, when it is doubtful if she can be tend'l'fod. Considerable losses among shorn sheep are feared.
