DOMESTIC SERVIOE TRAINING, By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 20. A proposal submitted to the Arbitration Court by the employers' representative that a system of training for domestic servants be introduced into the •industrial agreement relating to Auckland private hotels has borne fruit. A conference between representatives of the hotel-owners and the union was held to-day, at which the basis of the system for the introduction of probationer servants was agreed to, and an agreement wan drafted and signed providing that probationers may be allowed in the proportion of one to every four servants. The term of probation was fixed at two years, and it was provided that at the end of the period the employer shall give the servant a certificate of proficiency. The employers bind themselves to send the probationers to technical classes for instruction in domestic science subjects, once a week for three hours in the day-, time, also to pay all fees in connection with the classes. It is made a condition of engagement that the probationer shall attend the classes. The age of probationers is fixed at from 14 to 17. The scale of wages Is to be 10s a week for the first twelve months, 15s for the third six months, and 17s 6d for the fourth. Probationers are not to work more than *8 hours in a week, and are to receive as a holiday one* day in seven., Under no circumstances are they to work' overtime or before 7 a.m. or after 7 p.m.

Mr. Justice Stringer, president, agreed to embody in an award the terms submitted. BREACHES OF AWARDS. Christchurch. Nov. 21. Jos. Mundel, proprietor 'of the United Service Hotel, was fined 20s anil costs for failing properly to keep a wages and time book. F. Wooler, an employee in the flame hotel, was fined 5s for failing to sign the time book according to regulations. The inspector of factories said the action was taken owing to the long hours worked by servants in the hotel.
