BRITISH POSITIONS IMPROVED ENEMY ATTACKS REPULSED. RAID ON BRITISH TRENCHES. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc, and Reuter. Received Nov. 21, 12.50 a.m. London, Nov. 20. Sir Douglas Haig reports: We improved our positions slightly during the night north-west of Passchendaele. We .cpulscd attacks at certain advanced posts north-cast of Polygon Wood. Our machine-guns this morning caught other parties approaching south-east of Poelcanelle, the majority being either killed or taken prisoner. The enemy raided our trenches last night east of Gouzeaucourt. A FRENCH SUCCESS. AN APPRECIABLE ADVANCE. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc, and' Reuter. Received Nov. 21, 12.20 a.m. London, Nov. 20. A French communique states: On the right bank of the Meuse, in the region of Chaume Wood, we advanced appreciably and inflicted losses on the enemv. The artillery duel continues lively in this region. OFFICIAL REPORTS. SUCCESSFUL RAIDa London, Nov. 19. Sir Douglas Haig reports successful raids in the neighborhood of Monchy-le-Preux and north of Roeux. A French official message reports: There is heavy mutual artillery activity. A wireless German official message says: Between the coast and Belecaere there is firing of great intensity. '
