VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT DEFEATED. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Received Nov. 18, 5.30 p.m. Melbourne, Nov. IS. Elections returns are still incomplete. Second counts disclosed the defeat of Hon. D. Maekinnon, Minister of Railways, and Hon. F. Madden, the Speaker, while Agar Wynne, ox-l'oHmaster-Oencral, re-enters public life as member for St. Kilda. Labor has won Jikajika from the Liberals.
Later returns emphasise the defeat of the Peacock Ministry and the success of the new Nationalist party, which includes many former Peacock supporters. The position is curious, and Mr. Peacock will probably tender the resignation of the" Ministry on Monday.
