A MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE. Palmerston N„ Nov. 17. The adjourned inquest on the body of Francis William Villars, the boy who'was killed in a collision with a motor-car on October 23, was resumed this morning, before Mr. Kcnrick. S.M., Coroner. A verdict was returned th»t deceased met iiia death as the result of injuries received through being run over by a motorcar driven by Fred Hoult, and that the accident was caused thrmfgh the gross negligence of Hoult in neither sounding his horn, altering his course, nor reducing his speed while catching deceased up, and that deceased and'ft boy eyling with him did not in any way contribute to the accident. Hoult was th#n charged with manslaughter, and remanded to Friday next. Bail was allowed,..Jloult In £2OO, and two other sureties of £IOO. DEATH AT TAHITI. Wellington, Nov. 17. When the Maheno was at Tahiti onf of the wounded , men, Sergeant Roy J. Leslie, of Onehunga, died, and was Li ried with military honors. The Governor of Tahiti provided a burial plot, and expressed his intention of erecting a suitable monument. The British Consul has written to tho New Zealand Government, asking It to provide a brass plate, with name and inscription. The Government has replied, promising to do this, thanking the' Tahiti Government, and asking for copies of a photo of the grave. The English residents' will keep the tomb in order and supply flowers.
