CONSCRIPTION CAMPAIGN. A WARNING TO LIARS. Sydney, Nov. 16. Mr. Hughes, in his speech, referred to the lies circulated during the last conscription campaign, and warned everyone that if in the coming campaign they lied they would do so at their own peril. Any statement circulated to mislead the electors must either .be proved or punished quickly and suddenly. One lie only, and the utterer would go quickly out of the campaign. A BID FOR NOTORIETY Brisbane, Nov. 16. The Chamber of Commerce of Townsville has asked all Queensland chambers to pass certain resolutions and forward theni to London through the Associated Chambers of Australia. The proposals include suggestions in favor of the extension of the boundaries of France to the Rhine, the surrender of the German fleet intact, the replacing of every Allied ship sunk, and the splitting up of the German Federal States.
