By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington,' Last Night. Modcrat#to strong southerly to easterly winds have predominated, but gales have been experienced between East Cape and Napier. Owing to the development of a disturbance off East Cape, changeable and showery weather prevailed in the northern and east coast districts of the North Island, and fair weather generally elsewhere. The barometer pressure decreased steadily to-day. Present indications arc for strong and variable winds, with south-easterlies prevailing northwards of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and easterlies to northerlies cloudiness generally, and rain following elsewhere. Expect increasing haze and rain in many parts. The barometer has a falling tendency.
