GALLANT FIGHT BY YEOMANRY. FIRST LINE OF DEFENCES TAKEN. AUSTRALIAN MOUNTED?' DASHING CHARGE. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc, and Reuter. Received Nov. 14, 8.1.5 p.m. London, Nov. 18. General Allenby, describing the operations up to Thursday, says the Turks on the 27th ult. made a strong roconnaisance with two regiments of cavalry and 3000 infantry south-west of Tel el Steria. The London Yeomanry Brigade, which was holdiug the outpost covering the railhead, fought gallantly until the arrival of the infantry, when the enemy were repelled with great loss. The Londoners and dismounted Yeomanry made a dashing attack on the 31st, and gained the whole first line of defences at Beershcba, the fighting lasting all day long. The Turks, at evening, held the trenches, while to eastward the 4th Australian Light Horse charged these, which were Bft. deep and 4ft. wide. They galloped over them, ending all resistance.
