EAST AFRICA.
STUBBORN FIGHTING. COMMUNICATIONS OP TWO FORCES OUT. „ Jl Reuter Service. <" Received Nov. 11, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov, 10. Reuter's special correspondent, telegraphing from Nahunga on November 8, reports that the enemy had been driven out of his Mkumba and Makwera positions in the Lindi area »fter most stubborn lighting. The enemy, -after a determined attempt to surround one of our columns, were repulsed and retired at night time. Our losses were not severe, while the enemy's were most heavy. Our occupation of Liwali, and the control of the road eastward and westward, practically cuts the communications of the two main enemy fort'es. The northern forces are retreating to the south-west from Mahenge, and the southern forces aro operating from fifty to seventy miles south and west of Lindi. VVe accounted for 290 whites and 862 blacks during October.
