OPENIXG OF WEST END GREEN. The West End bowling green was o]i,<'DG(l yesterday in fine weather. The president, Mr, ,J. p. Sole, extended a hearty welcome to the visitors, & l&Rf,e number of ladies being present, Thp green looked remarkably well, in fact it has never looked better. Although a trifle heavy it played well, reflecting ,great credit 011 the green warden, Mr. F. J. Hiil, the caretaker, Mr. Richard Sole. Reference was hv the president to the continuance of tlie war,' snd he gave many reasons why bowling jshould be continued during the war period, Tfrpsp wpre endorsed by Mr. S. J. Smith, o?' b®Wf of the Fitzroy club. After the Ringing of tiie Matioija} Anthem, Mrs. Sole threw the kitty amidst applause. The green was officially opened for the feasor "Hie usual match, president v. vise-president was played 11 nil resulted in a win for the viee-pre dent by fo 137.
