Paul, who has been visiting lier mother, Mrs. D. Casey, has returned. Mrs. R. Heard left on Friday on a visit to Gisborne. Mrs. Armstrong and the Misses Russell and Trcadwell, having motored through from Wanganui, spent a few days in New Plymouth before their return. Mrs. Ooxhead (Whangamomona) is at present in town. Mrs. Montgomery (Sir James Allen's daughter), after her short stay here, left for Auckland yesterday. NEW PLYMOUTH SOCIAL NEWS. ANNUAL SPORTS. At the New Plymouth Boys' High School annual sports, last Thursday, the weather was exquisite, and there was a large attendance of parents and friends. The guest of the day was Sir James Allen, Minister of Defence, who came to New Plymouth to present the Imperial Challenge Shields (open to the schools of the Empire), won l>v the senioi and junior New Plymouth High School teams in 1010.
After the ceremony, an adjournment was made to the new boarding establishment, where afternoon tea was served in the spacious diriing-room, the floral decorations being masses of gorgeous pink roses. Appreciative music was rendered by Mrs. Woods' orchestra.
Those who assisted in serving tea were. Mosdames Moyes, Roc-kel, Kenrick, Penn, Kobbell, and Misses Saxton. Billiard (3), Palmer, Biling, McLood, Penn, Poach,Campbell (2), X. Corkill, Winfield, Roekel, Rollo. Mackav, Armstrong, F. Bedford; and members of the Girls' Higli School.
