THE PATEA WATER-FRONT The waterfront at Patea presents a very busy spectacle just now, in fact it is probably the busiest period that has ever been known at the wharf (says the local press). On Thursday morning the steamers Hawera and Waverley were discharging full loads of cargo, a number of men being engaged in the work. Further along more men were to be seen engaged in the work of extending the wharf near the West Coast Refrigerating Company's premises prior to the erection of a temporary cool storage building. Still further along on the far side of the grading works, another large gang of men were to lie seen engaged in putting up the new cool store for the West Coast Refrigerating company. This building will be a most substantial one and will be of untold value to farmers in southern Taranaki as well as a welcome addition to the commercial buildings of the town. Incidentally the buildings point to the further progress and prosperity of the district.
