AUSTRALIAN TURF. .CUP COMMENTS. Auatralian-N.Z. Cable Association. Sydney, Nov. v. The Herald describes the Cup as the most editing duel ever seen at Flemington. As the horses passed the shed, Westcourt emerged from the ruck and, getting a clear run on the outside, was just behind Almo and Broken Glass. Three furlongs from home he moved up next to the tiring Almo. As their heads turned towards home. Lingle and Isinglass put in an appearance and the field bunched up. Before reaching tlm distance Almo beat ft retreat, leaving Westcourt in command, but he was immediately tackled h,v Lingle.' and clear from their followers, the pair fought out a brilliant battle. Lingle was gradually gaining on the son of Bright Steel from the half distance, but McLachlan- kept Westcourt going and passed the judge's line with very little to spare. ' Not until Westeourt's number was hoisted did the majority know the winner. The Telegraph describes the finish as most exciting. Tin; pair went past the post locked together. The excited crowd stood up and called "dead heat." After a time there was silence, and the judge announced that Westcourt was the' winner. C.J.C. MEETING. ESTLAND WINS CANTERBURY CUP.
