He wag born at Taieri Beach, Otago, 3(1 years ago, and the family removed to Edeudale (Southland) soon after. subsequently spent some years iu'jthe Oaiuaru district in farming pursuits'. In 1004 he entered Belair College, Adelaide, with a view to qualifying for the foreign mission field. In 190!) ho married Miss Tonkin, formerly of Oamaru, \vh# had also received missionary training in; Adelaide. Deceased's first missipji.arj work was among the Australian aboriginals. He was at Mapoon, North Queensland, and three years ago was given the task of opening virgin territory at Mornington Island, and had made excellent progress. ■"■
