Mr. Massey telegraphs that Jtataslieba is now firmly held, all the high ground in the north being in our possession. The Turkish front of thirty miles has shrunk considerably,'the enemy, "being, able to concentrate with greater strength lat the thoratened points. ,' General Allenby is now attached to the , seaside defences of the Gaza area... Warships harassed the enemy communications and destroyed several ammunition dumps. They put up a terrific bombardment with all their guns just before the infantry rushed Umbrella Hill, capturing every living Turk, the tanks assisting. ... The enemy made desperate attempts to regain the lost ground, throwing in four counter-attacks, but the Scottish and' East Anglian troops broke every Turkish line with rifle and maJhrne-ffuh aire.
