THE MINISTRY.
M'R. lIERDMAN TO BE MADE A JUDGE.
Now that the Parliamentary session is over certain arrangements which have long been in contemplation by the Cabinet are to be carried out, states the New Zealand Times. It has been understood for a considerable time that Mr. A. L. Herdman is to relinquish the Attorney-General's portfolio for a seat on the Supreme Bench in succession to Mr. Justice Demiiston, and it was stated in political circles on Friday that this change will certainly come about within the present month. This will call for two Cabinet appointments to fill the fresh vacancy which will be created and the long-standing one occasioned by the death of Dr. McNab. It will be seen that amongst the earliest political events of the recess will be a double by-election in the constituencies now represented .by Mr. Herdman and Mr. P. G. Webb.
