RISING OF NATIVES.

A MISSIONARY KILLED. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Brisbane, Nov. 5. A general rising of natives at Mornington Island, in the Gulf of Carpentaria, , is reported. The Presbyterian mission ' was besieged for ten days, and the Rev. Robert Hall was shot dead. His assistant, Mr. Walter Owens, was wounded, but he escaped in a mission boat with the wives and children and reached Burketown. PLUCKY WOMEN'S ACTION. Received Nov. 6, 10 p.m. Brisbane, Nov. 0. The Rev Hall was murdered on the night of October 18, while touring Mornington Island. The natives chopped his head off while he slept. The horses were returned to the mission; also an old gin wearing Hall's blood-stained singlet. After Mr. Owens was wounded, two women kept the besieging natives at bay until the faithful natives from the mission .boat relieved them.
