On Sunday and today numbers ascended the hills at Taumarunui, and saw many spectacular outbursts from the volcano cone, the volumes of smoke rising rapidly, geyierlike to a great height. There was a colossal outburst at 12.30, and another at 2.30 to-day, the vibration being such that windows rattled.
