"EVERYBODY'S BUSINESS AND "THE GIRL GLORY" AT THE EMPIRE.

Intoxicated! Surely not," but wlien kind Bennett wobbles out from the bar with .bright eyes, she is. considered to have put herself quite beyond the pale. However, there is much to explain before the whole meaning of her extraordinary action in "The Glory Girl;" the star feature of the programme at the Empire becomes plain. The story is by Gardner Sullivan, one of the cleverst writrs of filmdom, and is a life-like and human piece of work. The supportng items include a Pathe subject "Everybody's Business," dealing with the great food crisis in England, a picture which should be seen by everybody. The Pathe Uazette is unusually interesting and there is also an Australian Gazette. 'With the Spirit's Help" (Comedy), and a. Rex drama "The Go-Between," on the same programme.

A FINE "DOUBLE" AT EVERYBODY'S. Miss Dorothy Phillips is "The Girl in the Checkered Coat" a fine Blue-bird drama and William Russell in the Mutual masterpiece, "The Man Who Would Not Die" are the outstanding attractions in picture circles to-night. "The Girl with the Checkered Coat" js la. drama in which the story of the lives of two sisters is told, in such a forceful manner, that the moral is driven home. While many . 0 f the scenes of the drama are pathetic to a degree, there are lighter moments which are verv cheering ° The Man Who Would Not Die" is a picture with «.. peculiar title and is a distinct departure from the beaten track of motion picture drama. The theme of the story is the attempt of an unscrupulous man to defraud an insurance company by taking out a large policy on his life and then by a clever deception to pretend that he is dead, his wife drawing the/money. The theme opens up wide possibilities and the producers have turned out one of the most <n-ip-pingly interesting pictures of the year There is a Topical Gazette on the gramme which will be shown and to-morrow only. a
