WEATHER REPORT.
FOR OCTOBER. (Taken at Pukekura Park meteorological station, Mr. W. W. Smith observer, altitude 'IOO feet.) The month, though mild, was unsettled j with a high average rainfall. The 9th j and 10th were chilly days, when snow | fell on the upper 3000 ft. of Mt. Egfflont. [There were fine displays of cirus on the sth and 15th, fracto-cumulus on the Oth and 23rd, and alto-cumulus on the ;17th. Fine sunsets were noted on the :11th and 16th. The 21st and 30th were stormy, with high wind. It is the class of weather to be expected when the season is merging into summer. The records for the month are as follow: Maximum thermometer,' 70deg. on the sth and Oth, 58dcg. on the 10th and 11th. Minimum thermometer, 58deg. on 29th, 39deg, on the 10th. Maximum wet bulb, 59deg. on sth, 52 deg. on 11th, Minimum wet bulb, sGdeg. on 2flth, 4-ldeg. on 10th. Solar radiator (sun's heat), laldeg. on 24th, liOdeg. on 10th. Terrestrial radiator, 55deg. on 24th, 38deg. on 10th and 15th. Sunshine recorder, 12hr. 55mm. on 15th, 20min. on 22nd; total, MOhr. 50 min. There were 7 sunless days. Rain was recorded on 20 days—loo points on 25th, 2 points on 12th; total, 7.l2fiin. The wind blew from the N. on 4 days. K.W. 1, W. 5, S. 12, S.W. 5, S.E. 3 days.
