' OPENING DAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Yesterday. The Manawatu A. and P. Show opened to-day in wet weather. As usual, there is a good exhibition of stock, the classes in dairy cattle being particularly, well represented, while sheep and horses arc also good classes. The schools division shows a big increase in entries, and is a pleasing feature of •'the show. The championship in Eorkahire pigs was secured by Mrs. Wall (Hastings). Milking Shorthorns.—Champion bull: M. Kearins (Kairanga). Reserve champion: S. Bolton (Oete). Champion cow: W. Brady (Woodvillo). Beserve champion: Central Development Farm (YVeraroa). THE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Palmerston N., Last Night, The championships in cattle were: Shorthorn.—Bull, G. A. Turner, Eltham; cow, W. Howard Booth. Hereford.—Bull and cow, Ernest Short, Feildiug. Ayrshire.—Cow, Porirua Mental Hospital. Friesian.—Cow, Central Development Farm, Weraroa. Milking class.—Shorthorn bull, M. Kearin, Kairanga; cow, W. Brady, Woodville.
