(From Our Own Correspondent.) [All communications, letters, etc., left with Mr. H. J. Hopkins, bookseller, will receive prompt attention.] CHOIR CONCERT. Stratford, Oct. 31. Although the iweather was decidedly bad, the attendance of the public at St. Andrew's Hall, last evening, was very good. A long and varied programme was' submitted, those contributing being: Misses Milner and Jackson: Messrs T. Ranford, P. Aitken, F. Ranford, H. L. Betts, and A. F. Sharpe. Encores were very numerous. The last concert of the series will be given next week, when the audience will have the privilege of naming any item they desire. The series, which has been held in aid of the choir and vestry funds, lias proved very enjoyable, and the' organiser, Mr. H. L. Betts. is deserving of commendation for successful results of these concerts. GENERAL. The Medical Board sat at Stratford to-day, and judging by the number of soldiers in the streets, had a busy time. The new picture palace is now" showing substantial progress. It is expected that programmes will be screened some time before Christmas. The ladies' patriotic committee is hopeful of obtaining good results in the appeal to he conducted next Saturday, on behalf of the Y.M.C.A. funds. The Women's Christian Temperance Union is taking an active part in the proceedings. /Heavy rains have fallen during the past 24 hours, and from the indications it looks as if bowling and gardening will be "off" to-morrow.

To-morrow (Thursday) sees the business premises close at 12 noon, instead of 12.30 p.m., as in tlic- past. The extra 30 minutes will be appreciated by those who care to move around for pastimes.

Mr. C. E. James has just opened up some very appropriate and beautiful Christmas cards for sending to soldiers at the front, and lriends in the Home Land. A very larfca and varied assortment is available, but already a steady demand has set in, so those on the lookout for seasonable gifts of this description should lose no time in inspecting Mr James' stock.
