GENERAL SMUTS' VIEWS.
ALLIES WILL STAND BY ITALY. TO THE BITTER END. Reuter Service. (Received Oct. 30, 7.50 p.m. London, Oct. 20. General Smuts, speaking at tin; Lord Mayor's luncheon, said the German people had been presented with the head of Serbia on a platter, but the Allies would not see Italy's head on a platter. The position was serious, but need not discourage us, nor need it discourage Italy. The Allies were going to stand by lur to the bitter end.
