(From Our Own Correspondent). Inadvertently the amount subscribed by the Waihi Branch in connection with the recent baby contest was omitted from the list. This amounted to £l3l lis Id. The Business Committee wound up their arduous duties on Friday night by a social to those who assisted. During the evening presentations were made to "Baby Gribbon" of a gold brooch by the committee, to secretary George Bird a fountain pen by the committee, and a handsome pocket wallet by Mr. Gribbon as an appreciation of the work done. Dancing, games and songs passed away a most pleasant evening. The final of the raffles were drawn by the freezing works committee on Saturday night. The pony went to Te Popo. There was not quite the usual bustle and excitement in town on Saturday or in the evening as has been wont for the past couple of months. The sight of the many canvassers, etc., looking for the nimble brown or bob was sadly missed, but probably both they and some part of the public are glad of a spell. The question of storage of butter and cheese is becoming acute, and the dairy factories in the district are beginning to feel anxious.
