Congestion and line interruptions account for the paucity of war news. • THE PACIFIC CABLE. Melbourne, Oct. 20. The Pacific Cable Board report for tho year ended 31st March last shows tho net working profits at £21,715, whereof £17,544 provided the usual sinking fund instalment and the surplus of £4231 goes to the reduction of the outstanding balance of the British Government loan. A special contribution of £60,000 was made during the year to the cable renewal fund.
