A BIG FLOUR SWINDLE.
SENSATION' IN LONDON COMMERCIAL CIRCLES. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Received Oct. 25, 1.30 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 25. Advices from London state that a sensation has been caused in commercial Circles by the discovery of a big flour swindle in Australia. It appears that a syndicate opened negotiations with a reputable Capetown firm for the disposal of a cargo of flour, to the value of £35,000, and the transaction was completed, cash being against the bills of ! lading, which were duty presented and the buyers drawn upon, a large proportion being negotiated in Australia. It was afterwards discovered that the cargoes did not exist, and -that the bills of lading were clever forgeries. As a sequel Bruce Bridekirko, described as manager and proprietor of the Cfftieral Agency and Trading Company, and Ferdinand Henz, master mariner, liava been arrested in Sydney and remanded on charges of conspiring to defraud the London Bank of Australia of large sums by means of the alleged false i.ills of lading, vhiiii represented shipped goods to South Africa through the Atlas Shipping C'ompiiny, the latter company being non-existent,
